Sweet and sour tomato chutney|pyaz tamatar ki chutney or khatti meethi tamatar ki chutney is very quick, easy and effortless chutney recipe.

You can get the sweetness of sugar but at the same time you can get the tanginess of tomatoes. so you are getting special combo flavour in this chutney.

This tamatar ki chutney requires few basic ingredients and all the ingredients in this recipe are available throughout the year. it is the perfect side dish to any Indian meal.

This recipe requires only 2 to 3 minutes prep and rest work is done by pressure cooker you just need to chop the tomatoes and onion and add in the spices you don’t need to do any taam jhaam.

This chutney is not sweetest sweet or too much sour it has the balance for both.

How to make tamatar ki chutney

  • In the pressure cooker add mustard oil, sliced onion, chopped green chilli, salt and red chilli powder then mix it well. cook it on medium flame.
  • When the onion turns transparent then add in diced tomatoes and water. lock the pressure cooker with a lid on and cook it on high flame until it whistles 2 to 3 times.
  • After 2-3 whistles lower the flame to simmer for 6 to 8 minutes.

  • After 8 minutes turn off the flame and open the lid add sugar and give it a nice mix with a whisk for a minutes to ensure that everything is combined well.
  • Tomato chutney is ready, it will become more thick when it cools down. serve it with dal chawal, khichdi, pulao, fried rice or litti chokha.
  • You can store this chutney in an airtight container in refrigerator for 2 days.

Sweet and sour tomato chutney|pyaz tamatar ki chutney

Sweet and sour tomato chutney, it has the balance of both the flavours. this chutney recipe is very easy to make and goes perfect with any Indian meals.

Ingredients

  • 4 medium size tomatoes
  • 2 small onion
  • 1 green chilli
  • 1 tablespoon mustard oil
  • 11/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon red chilli powder
  • 2/3 cup water
  • 2 teaspoon sugar

Instructions

  1. In the pressure cooker add 1 tablespoon mustard oil, 2 small sliced onion and 1 finely chopped green chilli.
  2. Then add in 11/2 teaspoon salt and 1/4 teaspoon red chilli powder. cook the onion by stirring occasionally on medium flame until it turns transparent.
  3. When the onion turns transparent add in 4 medium size diced tomato and 2/3 cup water. close the pressure cooker with lid and cook it on high flame until it get 2 to 3 whistles.
  4. After 2-3 whistles lower the flame to simmer for 8 minutes. after 8 minutes open the lid add 2 teaspoon sugar and whisk it nicely so that everything in combined well.
  5. Store it in an airtight container or serve it with dal chawal or fried rice or any meal.
