Try this healthy version of a waffle- a Millet waffle recipe or a chocolate millet waffle. It tastes like a normal chocolate waffle no one can tell that it has ragi flour in it.
It is very easy to make that even a beginner can make it, students living in hostels or PG can make this waffle if they have a waffle machine. I really like to have this waffle as an after-lunch or dinner dessert.

How to make millet waffle
In a bowl add egg, vanilla essence, and milk. Whisk it well.

Then add powdered sugar, ragi flour, wheat flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Mix it well.
The waffle batter shouldn’t be runny or too much thick, It should have a medium consistency. If you wish you can add choco chips or sprinkles to the batter.

Keep the waffle batter aside and preheat the waffle maker. Grease the waffle maker with butter or oil and pour the batter over it.
Let it cook for 5 to 8 minutes. Once done remove the waffle with a spatula, knife, or fork. Repeat the same process with the rest of the waffle batter, If the batter becomes thick you can add little milk to attain the right consistency.

Top it with honey or chocolate syrup or vanilla ice cream. Serve it warm and enjoy!
Top tips
- Wheat flour can be substituted with all-purpose flour. Wheat flour gives structure to the waffle so don’t skip it.
- Sugar quantity can be increased as per the taste.
- If the waffle batter becomes runny then add little flour to it. If the waffle batter becomes thick add little milk to it.
- Always make sure to preheat the waffle maker.
- Do not open the waffle maker every now and then, once you pour the batter don’t open it for at least 5 minutes. After 5 minutes of cooking you can Open it and check. If it is uncooked then leave it for 2- 3 minutes.

Does waffle contain maida?
It depends, If you are making it at home then you can use wheat flour, jowar flour, or the flour of your choice. If you are having waffles from outside then yes it contains maida. If you really like waffles then it’s better to make them at home rather than eating maida waffles regularly from outside.
How to make jowar waffle?
Follow the same recipe as mentioned above just substitute the ragi flour with jowar flour. That’s it!!.
Which waffler maker do I use?
I don’t make waffles regularly. It is mostly twice or thrice a month, so I bought a small affordable waffle maker. It works very nicely and takes 5 to 8 minutes to make each waffle.
