Let’s make an Indian fried fish recipe or you can also say North Indian-style fried fish. This is my mother’s recipe the ingredients in fried fish are somewhat similar to the fried chicken recipe.
My mother is a wonderful cook, you can never go wrong with this fried fish recipe. It has no hard techniques, you have to just add the ingredients to the fish, marinate it overnight and then fry.
This fish goes really well with beer or you have it as a evening appetizer.
Ingredients
Fish– I have used boneless fish which is easily available in my nearby local meat shop. You can use the fish of your choice.
Marination- It includes normal desi spices which are easily available in every Indian household, and lots of ginger garlic paste.
Oil to fry.
How to make Indian style fried fish
Clean and wash the fish. I have used boneless fish for this recipe you can also use rohu fish, basa fish or the fish you choose.

In a large mixing bowl add fish, ginger garlic paste, rice flour, gram flour (besan), turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, dried mango powder(amchur powder), salt, and degi red chili powder.
Mix it well. Cover and marinate it in the refrigerator for 6 to 7 hours.

Deep fry the marinated fish in medium hot oil until golden brown, and transfer it to the paper towel to absorb the excess oil.
Sprinkle some chaat masala over the fish and serve it hot with yogurt coriander chutney, laccha pyaz salad, and mojito.

- Do not skip any ingredients used for marinating fish as it makes the fish flavourful and delicious.
- Marinate the fish overnight or at least for 6 to 8 hours so that all the marination flavor is absorbed by the fish.
- It can be shallow-fried or deep-fried.
- You can store the marinated fish in the refrigerator for 2 days during the winter season.
