How to make sattu drink

In the bowl add sattu, roughly chopped onion and green chilli, black salt, plain salt and roasted cumin powder.

Then add water in it but don’t add all the water at once, add 1 cup water then mix and repeat this process twice.

This step will ensure that sattu is mixed nicely in the water otherwise it will sit in the bowl bottom or may form into lumps so mix it nicely with a whisk or spoon.

When mixed nicely add lemon juice in it and again mix.

Transfer it to a serving glass and serve.

Top tips

  • You can increase or decrease the amount of salt, onion, green chilli and lemon according to your taste. If you don’t eat onion or green chilli you can skip it.
  • I have used matka water which is naturally cold, you can use matka water or ice cubes or chilled water or room temperature water.
  • To make the sweeter version add sugar or jaggery.
  • If you want to stored this sattu sharbat then don’t add onion in it. store it in refrigerator but only for a day, if sharbat become thick add little water. when you serve it you can then add chopped onion in it.

Is besan and sattu same?

No, not at all. besan or gram flour is made from dried chickpea whereas sattu is the mixture of roasted black gram, rice flour and other serials. Both are different.

  • 2/3 cup sattu
  • 1 small chopped onion
  • 1 green chilli
  • 1/2 teaspoon  black salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon roasted cumin powder 
  • 1/2 teaspoon white salt(normal salt)
  • 1 lemon
  • 3 cup water

Instructions
