INGREDIENTS
This Eggless Date cake requires very basic ingredients and I think most of the ingredients you can find easily in your kitchen pantry except dates and walnuts. HOW TO MAKE DATES CAKE (STEP BY STEP PHOTO)
Soak the deseeded dates and jaggery in warm milk for 25 to 30 minutes. After half an hour the dates become soft make a paste out of it.

MAKE CAKE BATTER
Add date paste, yogurt, canola oil, and vanilla essence, to a mixing bowl. Whisk it well.
Note- Use neutral flavored oil.

Then add in whole wheat flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, roughly chopped walnuts, and milk. Combine it well with the help of a spatula by using the cut-and-fold method.
The batter should be slightly thick but pouring consistency, If the batter is too thick you can add a little milk to achieve the desired consistency. Pour the cake batter into a greased and flour-coated cake tin, and top it with some chopped walnuts or the nuts of your choice.
BAKE DATES CAKE
Bake the dates and walnut cake in a preheated oven at 180 degrees for 40 to 45 minutes or until the skewer inserted in the center comes out clean.
Serve it with a hot cup of tea or milk and store the cake in an airtight container once it comes to normal room temperature.

VARIATION
Chocolate dates and walnut cake
Soak the dates with coffee, milk, and jaggery. Use cocoa powder, and choco chips in the cake batter, the rest of the process will be the same. To make the cake more chocolatey top the cake with walnut chocolate sauce or chocolate ganache.
Millet dates cake
Ragi flour (finger millet flour) is very good for baking use the combination of ragi flour and wheat flour or ragi flour and all-purpose flour to make millet cake.

- Jaggery can be replaced with khaand (unrefined sugar), palm sugar, or coconut sugar.
- In case you have fewer dates then increase the quantity of jaggery or palm sugar.
- Canola oil can be replaced with salted or unsalted butter.

No, I don’t think so but if you wish you can add caramel syrup, date syrup, honey, or maple syrup as a topping.
Can I skip walnuts?
It is optional but instead of walnuts you can use pecan, almond, cashews, etc But add at least any nuts of your choice as it add crunch to the cake and will not taste very plain.
How to make this date cake vegan?
Replace milk, and yogurt with vegan milk (almond milk) and vegan yogurt.
Is dates walnut cake healthy?
