This eggless chocolate strawberry cake is super fudgy, rich, decadent and fruity. this cake is super easy to make combine all the wet and dry ingredients in a bowl and bake!

Ingredients

  • Fresh strawberries: Use fresh strawberries if not available then substitute it with frozen ones or with blueberries, raspberries or bananas.
  • All purpose flour: If you don’t prefer adding all purpose flour then substitute it with wheat flour. wheat flour cakes are little dense and have different texture. you can also try whole wheat chocolate cake recipe.
  • Coffee: I have used bru instant coffee you can use any coffee powder also mix it with hot water to make the cake more delicious.
  • Other: normal powdered sugar can be substitute with brown sugar or jaggery powder, rest you will need oil(neutral flavoured), yogurt, vanilla essence, baking soda and baking powder.

How to make chocolate strawberry cake

  • In a bowl add canola oil or refined oil and yogurt whisk it nicely then add powdered sugar in it and whisk it well.
  • Now sift all the dry ingredients in it then mix instant coffee powder in hot water and add it to bowl, combine it well.

  • Then add chocochips or chopped chocolate in the cake batter and transfer the cake batter to a cake tin. top it with heart shaped strawberries.
  • Bake it in a preheated oven at 180 degrees for 35 to 40 minutes or until the skewer inserted in the centre comes out clean.
  • When the cake is baked, let it cool then slice, serve and enjoy!

  • Wash and dry the strawberries then from the top of the strawberry cut it in V shape as shown in image below.

Top tips

  • To make the cake more flavourful you can add nutella or strawberry jam.
  • Store this eggless chocolate strawberry cake in a airtight container for 2-3 days at normal room temperature.
  • If you want to add some chopped strawberries in the batter than toss the chopped strawberries in the all purpose flour then add it into cake batter. this step will prevent sinking it to the bottom of the cake. you can do this step while adding chocochips, tutti-frutti or any fruits.

1. Can I use frozen strawberries?

It would be better to use fresh strawberries but if fresh strawberries are not available then use frozen ones.

2. How to bake a cake without oven?

yes, you can bake this cake in a gas tandoor or pressure cooker. Remember eggless semolina cake which is baked using pressure cooker.

To bake cake with pressure cooker:

Firstly, In a pressure cooker add salt and place the stand and preheat the cooker for 15 minutes on Low flame. Also, remove the pressure cooker whistle and sealing ring as well.

when the cooker is preheated, transfer the cake mould in it and close the pressure cooker with the lid. bake it for 30-35min on low flame or until baked.

Chocolate and strawberries goes really well and has excellent and interesting flavours. It also depends on the matter of taste and personally I like the combination of chocolate-strawberries, chocolate-orange also chocolate-grapes.

Replace the yogurt with vegan yogurt, chocolate chips with vegan chocolate chips rest of the ingredients will be same.
