Bhelpuri is very popular street food, you can find many bhelpuri street vendors in North India as well as south India, but every states have different way of preparing it.
I love quick savoury snacks especially during evening, if you’re like me then you should definitely checkout this snacks collection.
This bhelpuri recipe needs very basic ingredients but make sure to use fresh and crisp puffed rice otherwise you will end up having soggypuri.😅

Ingredients
- Puffed rice: Also known as bhuja or murmura it is easily available make sure it is fresh and crisp before using it in bhel. I get puffed rice directly from the manufacture we call it bhatti where they make puffed rice.
- Veggies: boiled potatoes, green chilli, tomato, onion, lemon juice and coriander leaves.
- Spices: salt, red chilli powder and roasted cumin powder.
- Other: bhujiya or sev, I have used Haldiram bhujiya, pomegranate seeds. you can use dry pomegranate seeds (anardana) instead of fresh ones or substitute it with raw mangoes.
How to make bhelpuri without chutney
- In a mixing bowl add chopped onion, chopped tomatoes, chopped green chilli, chopped coriander leaves, chopped boiled potatoes and pomegranate.

- Now add puffed rice or murmura and lemon juice. mix it well. add salt, red chilli powder and roasted cumin powder.
- Mix it well, add bhujiya or sev and serve it right away. don’t keep it for longer time otherwise it will become soggy.

Top tips
- Use fresh and crispy puffed rice otherwise you may end up having soggy bhelpuri.
- Serve it immediately after preparing because it will become soggy. If you’re preparing it for guest then chop the veggies earlier and prepare it right away when they arrive because it hardly takes 2-3 minutes while preparing when we have chopped veggies.
- If you want to make wet bhelpuri then to make your work easier prepare tamarind chutney and coriander chutney a day before and add generous amount of both chutney to bhelPuri.
- Other ingredients that can be used in bhelpuri are papdi or mathi, toasted peanut or cashews, mix namkeen, dried pomegranate seeds, raw mangoes, sprouts, boiled matar or chickpea or roasted poha.
- If you don’t eat onion or any other ingredients then skip it or substitute it with another ingredients.
