Aloo Tikki Sandwich Recipe is basically slightly toasted bread which is stuffed with flavourful aloo tikki, chutneys, chaat masala and sliced onion.
It is packed with flavours trust me every bite of this sandwich is full of flavour and you can also add your twist to this tikki sandwich according to your taste.
In my hostel canteen we use to get bun-samosa and it was the perfect combo likewise I really loved the combination of bread-aloo tikki. You may also find many street vendor selling this aloo tikki sandwich in Delhi.

Ingredients
- Boiled potatoes
- Spices: red chilli powder, salt, dry mango powder and chopped green chilli.
- Oil: canola oil, ghee or extra light olive oil for shallow frying tikki. (You can use any one of them which ever is available)
- Bread: white bread, brown bread or multigrain grain bread. (Use bread of your choice)
- Chutney: coriander chutney, tamarind chutney.
- Other: sliced onion, chaat masala.
How to make aloo tikki sandwich
- Peel the boiled potatoes and mash it.
- Then add chopped green chilli, red chilli powder, salt and dry mango powder (amchur powder) in it. Mix it well.
- Apply some oil or ghee on your palms and make medium size tikki by rolling the mashed potatoes with your palms then flatten it slightly.
- Heat oil in a pan or tawa then gently place 2 to 3 aloo tikki over it and shallow fry.

- Flip it gently when one side turns golden brown. cook it at medium flame until both the sides turn golden brown.
- Now, spread butter on two bread and toast it slightly in the same pan or in the other pan.
- Once the bread is toasted, smash and spread hot tikki over one side of bread then sprinkle chaat masala over the tikki. Add tamarind chutney, coriander chutney and thinly sliced onion over it.
- Cover it with another toasted bread slice and its ready to serve.
- Serve it hot and you can also serve one bread tikki sandwich in four bite size portion, which will be very easier to eat as well.

Top tips
Tikki
- You can add ginger garlic paste to make it more flavourful. If you prefer adding veggies then add finely chopped veggies.
- Increase or decrease the quantity of spices as per your taste.
- Boiled green peas and boiled sweet corns can also be used in the tikki.
Frying
- Aloo tikki can be deep fried, shallow fried or air fried as well. I have shallow fried the tikki in extra light olive oil on tawa or pan.
- You can use refined oil, light olive oil or canola oil for frying.
Assembling & flavouring
- I have used white bread for this recipe. You can use brown bread, multigrain bread or the bread or your choice.
- Other than coriander chutney and tamarind chutney you can also add garlic chutney or the chutney of your choice.
- Sliced onion gives extra crunch to the tikki you can also add thinly sliced ginger and beetroot with the sliced onion.

FAQs
How to boil potatoes in pressure cooker?
In a pressure cooker add potatoes then add enough water in it. so that all the potatoes are sinked in water, pressure cook the potatoes at high flame until it get 2 whistles then lower the flame to simmer for 5 to 7 and turn off the flame.
(Note: use same size potatoes so that all are cooked equally if there are different size of potatoes then small ones will overcooked and big ones will be undercooked)
Can I use burger buns instead of bread?
Yes, you can use burger buns or bread of your choice as well.
Can I store this aloo tikki?
Yes, this aloo tikki can be stored for 2 days in an airtight container in refrigerator.
